The District Administration Office (DAO) Kaski has requested tourists and trekkers not to embark on high-altitude treks until the weather clears, citing the likelihood of heavy rainfall and snowfall in the region.
In a notice issued today, the administration stated that, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, moderate to heavy precipitation has been forecast across the Gandaki Province, prompting the advisory for safety reasons.
Assistant Chief District Officer Shiva Prasad Lamsal said that trekking routes leading to Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal Base Camp, Model Machhapuchhre Trek, Kapuche, and Khumai should be avoided until weather conditions improve. Travelers are also urged to remain cautious and follow all safety measures.
Nighttime Transport Restricted on Several Rural Roads by Administration
The DAO has also suspended nighttime vehicular movement until Thursday morning on several rural routes, including Birethanti–Ghandruk, Birethanti–Ulleri, Lumle–Landruk, and Kahunkhola–Tangting–Sikles sections. Drivers have been advised to avoid overloading vehicles and to operate cautiously on slippery highways and rural roads during the ongoing rainfall.
Authorities Call for Caution Against Possible Disasters
The administration warned of potential landslides, floods, and road blockages, urging the public to remain alert. Citizens are advised to immediately contact local authorities, representatives, police units, or security agencies in case of any disaster-related incidents. The DAO emphasized that the precautionary measures are essential to ensure the safety of trekkers and local residents as unstable weather continues to affect the Himalayan districts.
