Adverse Weather Disrupts Flight Schedules Across Nepal

Flight schedules across Nepal faced significant disruptions today due to adverse weather conditions, particularly low visibility. This disruption has affected both domestic and international flights, causing inconvenience for travelers.

At Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), flights to various destinations experienced irregular operations. According to TIA spokesperson Rinji Sharma, Biratnagar Airport was completely shut down, while Janakpur Airport reopened after a temporary closure earlier in the day.

Several other airports, including Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi, resumed operations later than scheduled. Despite reopening, flights at these airports ran irregularly, further compounding delays. Notably, flights to Biratnagar were also disrupted on Monday, underscoring the ongoing challenges posed by weather conditions.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported partial cloudiness in the hilly areas of Koshi Province, while the rest of the country remained mainly fair. However, thick fog in affected regions has continued to disrupt air travel, with visibility being a primary concern for safe operations.

As weather conditions improve, authorities and airlines are working to normalize flight schedules. Passengers are advised to stay updated on the latest flight information and plan accordingly.
