Airlines Operators’ Association to Suspend Maximum Airfare Until Road Networks Are Restored

The Airlines Operators’ Association has announced that it will not charge the maximum airfare for flights until road networks are fully operational. This decision was made during a meeting held today, in response to disruptions caused by recent heavy rainfall, which has blocked several roads across the country.

The association released a statement, signed by Chairman Manoj Karki, stating, “In consideration of the current disaster and in the interest of the public, the association has decided to suspend the sale of tickets at the maximum fare, as per the notice issued on Bhadra 13, until the road networks are restored.”

Following public complaints about high airfare, the association had already decided in its Sunday meeting to provide cheaper tickets to passengers on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Chairman Karki emphasized that the association is striving to offer air tickets at the lowest possible rates to ensure ease of travel for citizens during this difficult time. The disruption of road networks caused by continuous heavy rainfall since Thursday has led to an increased demand for air travel, especially in areas affected by floods and landslides.

Tribhuvan International Airport has reported a surge in passengers on Sunday and Monday due to the ongoing road blockages.
