Ambikeshwori Green Park Opens in Ghorahi to Promote Domestic Tourism

With the aim of promoting domestic tourism and creating local employment opportunities, a new privately built recreational space named Ambikeshwori Green Park has been established in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City–18, Ambapur.

The park, developed and operated by 39-year-old local entrepreneur Bikash Budhathoki, features a variety of attractions including a scenic artificial lake, waterfall, rest areas, a party palace, and entertainment structures catering to all age groups, from children to senior citizens.

Five Crore Investment to Foster Tourism and Self-Employment

Budhathoki, who previously worked as a teacher for nearly nine years, said the idea to construct the park stemmed from his belief that rural entrepreneurship can flourish with the right vision and effort. “I left my teaching profession to contribute to internal tourism through a self-employment initiative. With an investment of around NPR 50 million, I have developed this park to serve the local community and attract tourists,” he said.

The park officially began operation on Baisakh 17 (April 30) and has since seen a daily footfall of over 1,000 visitors, according to Budhathoki. On public holidays, the number increases to around 1,200 tourists, mostly from within Dang district, Ghorahi, Tulsipur, Lamahi, as well as nearby areas.

Facilities Near Completion and Growing Popularity

Currently, the park is in its final phase of development, with structures like a children’s swimming pool, boating facility, and a treehouse café nearing completion. A 20-foot-tall artificial waterfall has already been constructed, serving as a major attraction. “We have designed the park to appeal to all age groups, and our main goal remains the promotion of internal tourism,” Budhathoki explained.

He emphasized that the proximity of the park to the religious and touristic site Ambikeshwori Temple has helped increase the inflow of domestic visitors. He believes that with better publicity and support from the local government, the park could also attract tourists from other districts and neighboring countries.

Call for Support from Local Government

Budhathoki stressed the need for cooperation from the local government to facilitate the park’s promotion. “This park not only boosts local tourism but also contributes to employment and the strengthening of the local economy,” he said. Entry to the park has been set at NPR 100 per person.

Public Response and Community Impact

Sarita KC, a local resident of Ghorahi-15, praised the park’s inclusive infrastructure. “The facilities here are well-suited for children, youth, and the elderly alike. I brought my children to visit, and I believe this initiative will greatly support internal tourism,” she said.

KC also highlighted the economic potential of such projects. “The park, being a local initiative, will not only promote business and tourism in the area but also create employment and income-generation opportunities,” she added, reiterating the importance of local government support in promotional efforts.

About the Park

Spread over an area of approximately one bigha, Ambikeshwori Green Park has become a prominent destination for families, students, and nature enthusiasts. Its mix of natural beauty, recreational structures, and easy access from surrounding towns makes it an emerging hotspot in Dang’s tourism landscape.

As development continues, Budhathoki hopes to expand the facilities further and transform the park into a regional model for sustainable, community-driven tourism.
