Annual Adinath Fair Kicks Off at Chobhar Ridge

The much-anticipated Adinath Fair at Chobhar Ridge commenced this morning, coinciding with Ashwin Shukla Poornima. This annual event attracts devotees from the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas, and will continue until Kartik Shukla Poornima.

Local resident Harilal Shrestha shared insights on the significance of the fair, stating that worshiping Adinath with devotion is believed to promote good health and help prevent skin-related diseases. The Adinath temple houses an integrated idol of Lord Shiva and Parvati, which holds a special place in the hearts of both Hindu and Buddhist followers, who worship the deities in their respective forms.

“This site represents our common cultural heritage,” Shrestha noted, emphasizing the significance of the fair for both communities. Devotees traditionally offer various utensils and ornaments at the temple, enriching the cultural experience of the event.

Since early this morning, attendees have engaged in devotional hymns, filling the temple with a spirit of reverence and devotion. Situated approximately nine kilometers south of Kathmandu, Chobhar Ridge not only serves as a spiritual hub but also offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley, enhancing the fair’s allure for visitors.

The Adinath Fair continues to be a cherished tradition, fostering a sense of community and devotion among participants as they celebrate this significant cultural event.
