A joint art exhibition organized by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, under the Indian Embassy, kicked off today in Naxal, Kathmandu. The exhibition, titled “Ramayana: A Shared Heritage”, features artwork created by artists from Nepal and India.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Nepal’s Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, and the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava. During the opening ceremony, both dignitaries expressed that such art exhibitions play a vital role in enhancing cultural exchange between the two neighboring countries. They also took the time to observe the showcased artwork.
Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Naradmani Hartamchali, highlighted the increasing collaboration between Nepal and other countries in organizing art exhibitions. He stated that these efforts not only promote cultural exchange but also contribute to the promotion of tourism. According to him, exhibitions like this offer opportunities for mutual learning and a deeper understanding of each other’s artistic creations and cultural heritage.
Devendra Thumkeli, Secretary of the Academy, added that the institution has been expanding its activities both within Nepal and internationally. He expressed confidence that such initiatives are helping to transform the fine arts sector.
The exhibition, curated and directed by Indian artist Gargi Seth, will run until Ashwin 14. It features five artworks from four Nepali artists and 42 artworks from 30 Indian artists, all depicting various scenes from the Ramayana.
