The wedding procession from Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, has arrived in Janakpurdham today for the grand Ramjanaki Bibahapanchami celebrations. The attendees, numbering approximately 500 saints, reached the historic town after resting in Matihani, Mahottari, on Monday night.
Manoj Saha, the Mayor of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, officially welcomed the delegation with a grand reception. Locals lined both sides of the road, showering flowers and chanting “Jaya Sitaram” as the group made its way into Janakpurdham.
Prior to their arrival, the procession was warmly greeted in Matihani by the municipality’s Mayor Hari Prasad Mandal and local residents, who organized a musical band to mark the occasion.
Mahant Ram Roshan Das, the successor of Janaki Temple, called on Janakpurdham residents to actively participate in making the event memorable. “This is a unique opportunity for us to welcome the attendees of Lord Shri Ram, who come to Janakpur from Ayodhya every five years,” he remarked.
All necessary arrangements for food and accommodation have been made for the attendees, who will stay in Janakpurdham for four days. The group is scheduled to visit the sacred Janaki Temple, a significant part of the tradition that traces back to 2061 BS.
The town of Janakpurdham has transformed into a hub of festivity, embracing the weeklong Ramjanaki wedding celebrations. According to Hindu scriptures, the divine wedding of Lord Shri Ram and Goddess Sita was confirmed after Ram successfully broke Lord Shiva’s mighty bow into three pieces.
The grandeur of this event, deeply rooted in Hindu mythology, continues to draw devotees and visitors from far and wide, making Janakpurdham a focal point of cultural and spiritual significance.
