Badarinarayan Dham to Play Key Role in Promoting Religious Tourism: Energy Minister Dipak Khadka

Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Dipak Khadka has emphasized the significant potential of Badarinarayan Dham in promoting religious tourism and contributing to Nepal’s socio-economic development. Speaking at the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of the newly constructed Badarinarayan Dham in Ramkot, Nagarjun Municipality-7, Minister Khadka said that such religious sites can boost employment, generate income, and support the national economy.

Religious Tourism Linked to Economic Growth

During the ceremony organized by the Narayan Pokharel Foundation, Minister Khadka highlighted the importance of religious tourism in creating livelihood opportunities and contributing to state revenues. “When we talk about jobs, income generation, and national revenue, it is necessary to develop religious tourism, and I firmly believe that this dham can play a significant role in that direction,” he stated.

He also expressed his confidence that the Dham will energize local businesses around Ramkot by attracting religious visitors, ultimately aiding in religious preservation and cultural continuity.

Anticipated Pilgrimage Influx and Economic Impact

Minister Khadka shared his vision of Badarinarayan Dham becoming a major pilgrimage destination in the coming days, potentially drawing hundreds of thousands of devotees annually. This influx, he believes, will invigorate the local economy, create employment opportunities, and enhance income levels of people in the surrounding areas.

Emphasizing the value of social harmony, Minister Khadka urged all communities and faith groups to pursue virtue based on their beliefs. “Though we are divided by caste, religion, and culture, we are united as one. This is our collective spiritual garden, and such acts of devotion are virtuous for humanity,” he said.

Government’s Commitment to Preservation and Promotion

Minister Khadka expressed his sincere gratitude to all individuals who have contributed to the construction of the dham in such a serene location. He also affirmed the government’s commitment to preserving the dham, promoting tourism, and contributing to its overall development. “We will continue to support the dham in terms of conservation, tourism promotion, and broader development,” he declared.

Infrastructure Support Sought from Government

On the occasion, Dinbandhu Pokharel, Chairperson and Chief Patron of the Narayan Pokharel Foundation, stressed the need for government support in further developing the physical infrastructure of the dham. He specifically requested the allocation of budget for constructing protective embankments (tatebandhan) to safeguard the dham from environmental threats and ensure its longevity.

A New Spiritual and Tourism Landmark in Kathmandu

Located amidst the peaceful surroundings of Ramkot in western Kathmandu, Badarinarayan Dham is envisioned as a spiritual hub that blends devotion with tourism. With growing attention from religious followers and government agencies alike, it is expected to emerge as a significant destination for pilgrims and tourists, offering not only spiritual solace but also socio-economic benefits for the region.
