Baglung Municipality Introduces Street Numbers to Enhance Tourism-Friendliness

In a bid to make Baglung Bazaar more tourism-friendly, Baglung Municipality has initiated the installation of street numbers for the first time. Approximately 100 locations in Baglung Bazaar will now feature state numbers and street names to help tourists easily navigate their destinations, according to the municipality.

Baglung Municipality’s Deputy Mayor, Raju Khadka, stated that the municipal tourism development committee is spearheading the project, which includes marking various intersections and streets with state numbers. The initiative is funded with a budget of NPR 500,000 allocated by the municipality.

Poles for the state numbers have been installed, and the project is in its final stages. Khadka explained that along with the state numbers, the commonly used names of the localities will also be displayed. This effort is similar to the organized street numbering system in Pokhara’s Lakeside area.

“By implementing a systematic street numbering system like in Pokhara’s Lakeside, tourists will no longer be confused while navigating through Baglung Bazaar. The state numbers and street names will also be added to Google Maps, making it easier for visitors to reach their destinations,” Khadka said.

In the first phase, state numbers will be installed at 100 key intersections and main streets. In the following year, the municipality plans to extend the numbering to additional inner streets and intersections. The second phase will focus on auxiliary roads. This initiative aims to transform Baglung Bazaar into a tourist-friendly city through the integration of local community suggestions and coordination.

The introduction of state numbers is expected to significantly enhance the experience for tourists and visitors, ensuring easy and efficient navigation throughout Baglung Bazaar.
