The Bagmati Province government has announced a public holiday on August 20 to celebrate the Gaijatra festival. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held on Friday, according to Minister for Interior Affairs and Law, Surajchandra Lamichhane.
In addition to declaring the holiday, the cabinet also appointed Minister Lamichhane as the official Spokesperson for the Bagmati provincial government. The Gaijatra festival, a traditional celebration honoring the deceased, is widely observed in the region, and the holiday will allow citizens to participate fully in the festivities.
