Bandipur, a beloved destination for travelers, has significantly boosted accessibility with the inauguration of its long-awaited cable car system for commercial operations. Previously undergoing extensive testing phases, the system’s transition to full-scale commercial use was confirmed today by Kiran Pokharel, the project’s executive officer.
“The official launch coincided with the auspicious occasion of Baishakh 1, celebrated with a ceremonial puja. We are delighted to announce that we are now fully operational in a commercial capacity,” stated Pokharel.
Supervised by ‘TÜV NORD Germany,’ the project underwent rigorous mechanical scrutiny of its entire cable car infrastructure spanning nearly a year. Ramchandra Sharma, president of the overseeing company, highlighted the successful completion of a meticulous three-phase testing process, culminating in the acquisition of the ‘Pressen TÜV’ certificate for commercial deployment.
“Safety and quality were our top priorities throughout. With thorough preparation, we are proud to open for commercial operations,” Sharma emphasized.
Featuring a cable car capable of navigating cliffs at a 90-degree angle, the system promises exhilarating experiences for visitors. Sharma expressed confidence that this unique feature would appeal to tourists. Located near Cable Car Chowk, Dumre Bazaar, the cable car offers a swift seven-minute journey covering a distance of 1,700 meters from the temple.
The initial phase will see 21 out of 31 cabins operational for passenger transport, with the remaining cabins allocated for maintenance purposes. Operating from 6 AM to 11 PM daily, the cable car will offer a variety of ticket options to cater to diverse preferences.
