Banke National Park to Establish Visitor Information Center

Banke National Park is set to establish a Visitor Information Center in Kohalpur to facilitate a better experience for tourists visiting the park. Manoj Kumar Shah, the chief conservation officer of the park, announced that the initiative aims to provide comprehensive information about the park to its visitors.

The Visitor Information Center is being established with an investment of approximately NPR 7 million. Shah indicated that necessary preparations are underway, and the center is expected to be operational within two weeks.

The center will offer detailed information regarding all aspects of Banke National Park, which welcomed around 480 tourists in the previous fiscal year. The park is particularly renowned for its biodiversity and tiger conservation efforts. Established in 2010 to protect the endangered Bengal tiger, Banke National Park is the youngest national park in Nepal.

Visitors to the park can observe a variety of wildlife, including tigers, leopards, elephants, rhinoceroses, wild boars, nilgais, and numerous bird and snake species. The park provides various options for tourists, including elephant rides, jeep safaris, and guided treks. Additionally, infrastructure such as viewing towers, grasslands, artificial ponds, and forest trails have been developed to enhance wildlife observation experiences.

With easy access via road and air transport and the availability of over a dozen star-rated hotels in the area, Banke National Park has become a popular destination for tourists keen on observing wildlife, particularly tigers. The park spans an area of 550 square kilometers across the districts of Banke, Dang, and Salyan, making it a prime location for nature enthusiasts.
