Barahakshetra Municipality in Sunsari has renewed its commitment to maintaining cleanliness in the region with the continuation of the “Barahakshetra Cleanliness Campaign.” The initiative focuses on cleaning key areas including Barahakshetra Main Chowk, temples, dharmashalas, health posts, schools, and public spaces.
Mayor Ramesh Karki emphasized the importance of cleanliness around the Barahakshetra Temple in Chataradhama, as it attracts a significant number of devotees. He highlighted that the temple area receives considerable foot traffic, making it crucial to maintain a clean environment.
Economic Development Coordinator Tekbahadur Gurung stressed the need for a collective effort from all residents. He stated, “Everyone must contribute to making our Barahakshetra a better place.”
In response to the recent increase in dengue infections, the municipality has intensified its efforts to clean roads and eliminate mosquito larvae. Residents are encouraged to manage waste in front of their homes and to prevent water accumulation in drains to reduce mosquito breeding sites. The municipality has requested all citizens to cooperate in ensuring that water does not accumulate in open spaces.
The campaign has seen active participation from residents, community leaders, intellectuals, political party representatives, local organizations, the Nepal Police, and the municipal police. Their combined efforts are vital for the success of the cleanliness drive and the overall well-being of Barahakshetra.
