Bhutanese King Wangchuck Visits Boudhanath During Brief Kathmandu Stopover

Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Boudhanath Stupa today as part of his brief visit to Nepal. Earlier in the day, the King also offered prayers at Swayambhunath Stupa, another significant cultural and religious landmark in Kathmandu.

The monarch arrived in Nepal this morning on his way back to Bhutan from India. His visits to Swayambhunath and Boudhanath were marked by reflection and appreciation of the historical and spiritual significance of these iconic sites.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, King Wangchuck’s stopover in Kathmandu is part of his return journey to Bhutan. He is scheduled to depart for Bhutan later today.

The King’s visit to these revered Buddhist sites underscores the cultural and religious bonds shared by Nepal and Bhutan, reflecting a shared heritage that continues to strengthen ties between the two nations.
