Bishal Rai from Phidim-14, Panchthar, secured the first-place title in the inaugural Timbung Pokhari Trail Run held on Wednesday. The event, organized to promote tourism in the scenic Timbung Pokhari region, attracted 30 participants, including three women.
Pingso Namgyal Bhotia from Sikkim, India, took second place, while Bharat Baniya from Sidingwa Rural Municipality-1 claimed third place. The 7.8-kilometer race, starting at the 4,335-meter-high Timbung Pokhari and ending in Pangduwa, showcased the region’s challenging terrain and stunning landscapes.
The Timbung Pokhari Conservation Committee organized the event, awarding cash prizes to the top three winners. Bishal Rai received Rs 30,000, Pingso Namgyal Bhotia took home Rs 20,000, and Bharat Baniya earned Rs 10,000, along with certificates of achievement.
Among the female participants, Nikki Nembang from Falgunand-5, Panchthar, was the first to complete the race and was awarded Rs 10,000 in cash.
The competition aims to raise awareness about the tourism potential of Timbung Pokhari, encouraging further interest in this high-altitude destination.
