On Monday, devotees gathered in Pokhara for the annual Bolbam pilgrimage, organized by the Ashram Committee. This revered event is a highlight of the religious calendar, attracting participants from across the region to partake in its sacred rituals.
The pilgrimage began with participants bathing at the revered 108 springs located in Gaighat, Ward No. 1 of Pokhara Metropolitan City. This ritual cleansing is an essential part of the pilgrimage, symbolizing purification and devotion. Following this, the devotees embarked on an 8-kilometer foot journey through the city, making their way to the Kedareshwor Temple in Ward No. 6 of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
At Kedareshwor, the climax of the pilgrimage involved the ritual of offering water to 108 Shiva Lingas, a sacred practice in Hindu worship. This act of water libation, known as “Jal Arpan,” is performed with deep reverence, reflecting the participants’ faith and devotion to Lord Shiva.
The annual Bolbam pilgrimage is a testament to the vibrant religious traditions of the region, drawing people together in a shared experience of spiritual renewal and communal devotion. The event not only fosters religious fervor but also promotes the cultural and spiritual heritage of Pokhara.
