A Buddha Air flight from Janakpur to Kathmandu was abruptly halted on the runway after a fox was spotted, preventing the plane from taking off. The incident occurred at Janakpur Airport around 10 a.m. on Monday.
Buddha Air Flight 504 was in the process of taking off when the fox was seen approximately 200 meters down the runway. The pilot immediately canceled the takeoff to ensure passenger safety, adhering to flight safety standards.
Dipendra Karna, Buddha Air’s Information Officer, confirmed the takeoff was stopped in compliance with safety protocols. “The presence of wildlife on the runway posed a potential risk, and the decision to abort the takeoff was made promptly,” he stated.
After the runway was cleared and all safety checks were completed, the flight proceeded without further incident, arriving safely in Kathmandu.
At the time of the incident, Airport Chief Bhimdutt Pant was personally overseeing Air Traffic Control duties. This swift action highlights the importance of vigilance and adherence to safety standards in aviation. No injuries were reported, and all passengers safely continued their journey.
