Captain Manish Ratna Shakya, the sole survivor of the tragic Saurya Airlines plane crash, is reported to be in stable condition, according to Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal. The accident claimed the lives of 18 passengers on Wednesday morning.
Prof. Dr. Mina Thapa, Director of the Medical College, issued a press note on Thursday confirming that Captain Shakya is out of danger. “Currently, there is no complication in his treatment,” Dr. Thapa stated. Shakya, who was rescued from the crash site at Tribhuvan International Airport, was immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment.
Dr. Thapa detailed Captain Shakya’s injuries, mentioning that he sustained minor wounds on his face, along with fractures in three ribs and his backbone. Despite these injuries, his recovery is progressing well, and the medical team is optimistic about his condition.
In her statement, Dr. Thapa also paid tribute to the victims of the crash and extended heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families. The medical community and the nation mourn the loss of lives in this tragic incident and hope for Captain Shakya’s swift recovery.
The crash, which occurred at Tribhuvan International Airport, has left the nation in shock, with authorities continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident.
