Chairperson Thapa Highlights Role of RSS in Promoting Tourism through Natural and Cultural Heritage

Chairperson of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee, Amar Bahadur Thapa, has remarked that the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) has been actively engaged in promotional efforts to enhance tourism by highlighting Nepal’s natural and cultural heritage.

Speaking after observing the photo exhibition titled “Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity”, organized by RSS on the occasion of the 18th Republic Day, Thapa emphasized the significance of such exhibitions in showcasing Nepal’s national pride, particularly its majestic Himalayas.

Promotion Vital for Attracting Tourists

“Effective promotional arrangements are essential to attract tourists. At present, we are not yet fully able to provide them with the quality of services and facilities they expect,” Thapa said during the exhibition. “If we can offer improved services to our guests, tourism can significantly contribute to the economic development of the country,” he added. He further noted that Nepal’s unmatched natural beauty, cultural wealth, and iconic Himalayan range can be powerful tools in branding the country globally, but emphasized that consistent and strategic promotion is necessary.

Political Commitment and National Self-Reliance Needed

Chairperson Thapa also reflected on the broader challenges facing Nepal’s economic development. Stressing the need for deep research and hard work by political parties and the government, he said, “A nation cannot achieve sustainable development through the habit of constantly asking, borrowing, and distributing. Despite being rich in resources, Nepal could have achieved significant prosperity by now if these resources were managed effectively.”

RSS Leadership Reiterates Commitment

Earlier in the event, RSS Executive Chairman Dharmendra Jha welcomed Chairperson Thapa to the exhibition venue. Jha expressed hope that the exhibition would contribute meaningfully to the celebration of Republic Day and help foster awareness about the country’s mountain tourism potential.

Photo Exhibition Captures Himalayan Essence

The photo exhibition, which began on Jestha 11, features 96 images portraying Nepal’s Himalayan landscapes, mountain life, and major tourist destinations. The carefully curated collection offers visual insight into the diverse and majestic beauty of Nepal’s highlands and reflects the lives of communities living in the Himalayas.

The exhibition not only celebrates Nepal’s identity through visuals but also aims to encourage both domestic and international tourism by invoking appreciation for the country’s unique geographical and cultural tapestry.

As Nepal strives to recover and grow its tourism sector post-pandemic, initiatives like RSS’s photo exhibition serve as vital platforms for national branding. Chairperson Thapa’s remarks underscore the urgency for Nepal to strengthen its promotional strategies and improve service delivery to tourists. With political will and coordinated efforts, Nepal’s natural and cultural assets have the potential to uplift its tourism industry and contribute meaningfully to national economic growth.
