Massive Relief Unleashed: Chitwan National Park Grants Rs. 12.3 Million to Wildlife-Affected Victims

People impacted by wildlife-related incidents have received relief from Chitwan National Park totaling Rs. 12.3 million (Rs. 1 crore 23 lakh 6 thousand 842). Within the park’s buffer zone, relief was given for 412 incidents. This sum was distributed to victims of various wildlife-related incidents between mid-July (Shrawan) and mid-April (Chaitra end) of the current fiscal year, according to Abinash Thapa Magar, the park’s information officer.

The relief included Rs. 1.69 million to cover the medical costs for 27 injured people and Rs. 8 million for the families of eight people killed in wildlife attacks. In addition, compensation for 244 food crops damaged was given in the amount of Rs. 1.41 million.

Additionally, the park gave out Rs. 919,700 for the 95 livestock that were lost, Rs. 166,000 for the 18 houses and sheds that were damaged, Rs. 83,000 for the 13 grain storage damages, and Rs. 27,500 for the loss of poultry.

Relief for wildlife-related damages, including Rs. 1 million for the family in the event of a death, is provided by Chitwan National Park and its buffer zone. The amount of compensation for property damage or injuries varies according to the kind and severity of the damage. Although there is no way to completely make up for the losses incurred when wild animals infiltrate human settlements, Thapa Magar stated that the relief effort attempts to offer impacted families some assistance. In order to lessen conflict between people and wildlife, he added, the park actively runs a number of awareness campaigns in addition to its relief initiatives.
