Chitwan National Park Resumes Jeep Safari from Fulpati After Monsoon Break

Chitwan National Park is set to resume its popular jeep safari on the occasion of Fulpati this Thursday, after being halted due to the monsoon rains. As in previous years, the safari had been suspended since Ashadh 16 due to the rainy season.

The reopening was delayed due to the challenges of road and bridge maintenance and the clearing of overgrown bushes caused by the prolonged monsoon. Last year, the safari resumed on Ashwin 16, but this year it has been slightly postponed. Meanwhile, tourist activities in the community forests outside the park have continued throughout the rainy season.

According to park information officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the jeep safari is being reopened to cater to tourists visiting during the festival season, despite the incomplete road cleanup. The park will operate 32 jeeps from Sauraha, 20 from Kasara, nine from Meghauli, one from Madi, six from Amaltari in Nawalparasi, and two from Kujauli to guide tourists through the park.

Jeep safari remains the park’s primary tourist attraction, but other activities like boat safaris and bird watching are available year-round. Chitwan National Park is a key destination for safari tourism in Nepal, drawing both domestic and international tourists for its wildlife and natural beauty.
