The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has lifted the flight ban previously imposed on Captain Vijaya Lama of Nepal Airlines. The ban, which lasted for three weeks, was initially enforced due to Captain Lama’s repeated engagement in activities deemed prohibited for flight and passenger safety.
The decision to ban Captain Lama stemmed from allegations of non-compliance with the standards and recommendations set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and CAAN itself. In response to these allegations, CAAN established a three-member investigation committee led by Bikramraj Gautam, Director of the Aviation Safety Department.
The investigation committee concluded that Captain Lama had violated certain protocols. As a result, he was fined and temporarily banned from flying. The ban has now been lifted on the condition that Captain Lama does not repeat the mistakes identified during the investigation.
