Nepal has officially entered the post-monsoon season, marked by a notable drop in temperatures following the retreat of the monsoon. The weather significantly improved after rainfall on September 27 and 28, with the monsoon exiting the country two days ago.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the federal capital, Kathmandu, is experiencing increasingly cold temperatures, particularly during the mornings and evenings. Meteorologist Sanjiv Adhikari reported that the minimum temperature in Kathmandu dropped from 20 degrees Celsius on October 1 to a current low of 16 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the Kathmandu Valley recorded a temperature of 14.7 degrees Celsius, and 16 degrees Celsius on Monday.
This cooling trend is not confined to the capital; other regions are also witnessing a decline in temperatures. Adhikari emphasized the importance of taking precautions against the cold, as temperatures have been consistently decreasing over the past two weeks.
The Weather Forecasting Division noted that while the western regions of Lumbini, Sudur Paschim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces are experiencing general weather impacts from westerly winds, the Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces are seeing a blend of westerly and local winds. Despite some partial weather changes in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, today is expected to be clear across the country.
As the country transitions into cooler weather, residents are urged to stay warm and take necessary precautions against the chill.
