In today’s session of the House of Representatives, concerns were raised regarding the increasing number of aviation accidents in Nepal and the role of regulatory bodies.
During the session, MP Udayashamsher Jabara highlighted that there have been 72 aviation accidents over the past six decades, questioning the effectiveness of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) in its regulatory role. Presenting data showing that 935 people have lost their lives in these accidents, Jabara urged the government to develop and enforce stringent measures to reduce aviation accidents.
MP Raghuji Pant emphasized the need for a unified voice from all political parties and citizens regarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling on the government to play a robust role in safeguarding these aspects.
MP Amanlal Modi referred to the previous government under CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ noting its commitment to good governance, economic prosperity, and social justice. Modi questioned whether the current government would continue this commitment to good governance.
MP Rabi Lamichhane drew attention to the need for the government to focus on good governance and issues such as relief for the public, education, health, and employment, rather than undermining other parties and their leaders.
MP Anisha Nepali highlighted the plight of children in impoverished areas who are deprived of education. She stressed the importance of protecting vulnerable children, including those who are disabled, orphaned, or at risk.
MP Ranjukumari Jha urged political parties to work together to identify and address the nation’s problems without resorting to mutual accusations.
MP Rekha Yadav brought up the issue of incomplete bridge constructions across various rivers in the country, calling for government attention to complete these projects.
MP Ram Prakash Chaudhary emphasized the need to control rising criminal activities across the country. MP Prem Suwal suggested implementing legal measures for internal migration within districts to ensure balanced national development.
MP Kantika Sejwal reported road blockages on the Karnali Highway due to landslides and called for arrangements to ensure uninterrupted road operations.
MP Julie Kumari Mahato expressed confidence that the current government, formed with the participation of the two major political parties in the House, will address the public’s problems.
MP Javedah Khatun noted that the current government has significant public expectations, particularly in the areas of education, health, and job creation, urging the government to focus on these critical issues.
