In Sailung, a popular tourist area, ongoing rains have seriously disrupted operations. The main road into the area has been closed due to many landslides caused by the severe downpour.
The road going up from Doramba has been badly damaged, according to local Dawa Sangbu Sherpa, with landslides happening in several places. During the rainy season, this barrier has made things very tough for tourists visiting Sailung.
The road closure has an effect that goes beyond only travelers. There are several difficulties for the locals, who depend on the route to get to Kathmandu and the district office. Produce farmers in the area are also having difficulty getting their goods, such as potatoes and other vegetables, to market.
There are also several power outages as a result of trees and electric poles falling due to the persistent rain. The constant rain has made it difficult to clear the road and restore power, which has put locals and visitors in a challenging situation.
Although rehabilitation activities are difficult because to the persistent weather, local officials are attempting to solve the concerns. The neighborhood is hoping for a weather break so that the required repairs can be completed and everything can return to normal.
