Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that he will take the initiative to make the Tulsipur Airport in Dang bigger and better. President Deuba mentioned that he would discuss with experts and, if it is possible to expand the airport, he would push for upgrading its facilities.

“In our country, the mountainous region is vast, so air travel is crucial for quick transportation,” said Deuba while addressing the inter-provincial Tharu cultural conference and festival in Dang’s Dangisharan Municipality-3 Chakhoura on Saturday. “I will talk directly with the experts and, if expansion is possible, I will initiate efforts to make Tulsipur Airport bigger and better.”

Deuba also mentioned that since the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, is from the Tharu community, governance has now come into the hands of the Tharus. “Whether he continues as Chief Minister or someone else takes over, the Tharus now have power in governance, and it is important to build our place,” said Deuba. He also emphasized the need to preserve Tharu culture, which is rich in traditional arts and customs.

Matwan, Badghar, and Bhalmansa Federation’s central president and former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, mentioned that the Tulsipur Airport, which started operations in 2011, has caused interruptions in air services due to its expansion. Chaudhary also stressed the need to give more power to provinces to strengthen federalism.
