Massive Devotee Turnout at Doleshwar Mahadev Temple on Auspicious Akshaya Tritiya

A large crowd of devotees gathered early this morning at the Doleshwar Mahadev Temple in Sipadol, believed to be the head of Kedarnath.

While on regular days devotees are only allowed to offer prayers from the western gate without entering the temple, today being Akshaya Tritiya and a significant day marking the recognition of Doleshwar Mahadev as the head of Kedarnath all four gates of the temple were opened, allowing devotees to enter and perform their worship. This was informed by Harisharan Basnet, Secretary of the Kedarnath’s Head Doleshwar Mahadev Conservation and Development Committee.

From 4 AM, all four gates were open for public entry, enabling worshippers to perform rituals and receive blessings directly inside the temple.

The committee allows such full access only three times a year: on Akshaya Tritiya, Bhadra 6, and Maha Shivaratri. To manage the large crowd, 40 volunteers were deployed, and arrangements ensured that devotees could complete their worship within 30 minutes of queuing.
