Devotees Flock to Gosaikunda for Holy Bath and Worship on Janai Purnima

On the occasion of Janai Purnima, a large number of devotees gathered at the sacred pilgrimage site of Gosaikunda from early morning for ritual bathing and worship. Gosaikunda, located at an altitude of 14,100 feet above sea level, is a revered religious site where devotees come with the belief that worshiping on Janai Purnima will fulfill their wishes and provide them with the blessings of all deities.

The Gosaikunda Area Development Committee reported that pilgrims have been arriving at the site since the early hours to perform their rituals. According to the committee’s chairman, Sanjiv Diem, the flow of pilgrims heading towards Niladri Parbat, where Gosaikunda is located, continues unabated.

Milan Sapkota, Assistant Conservation Officer at Langtang National Park, mentioned that the park is facilitating the pilgrims during their visit. Given the increased number of devotees, District Police Chief Keshav Bhattarai stated that sufficient security personnel have been deployed under the command of a police inspector to ensure safety.

For those suffering from altitude sickness, the Himalayan Rescue Association has set up a health camp at Gosaikunda to provide first aid. Chief District Officer Bednidhi Khanal noted that a rescue team is on standby to assist any pilgrims who may find themselves in critical condition.

In terms of transportation, Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-6 has organized parking facilities for 130 buses, 305 jeeps and cars, vans, and 420 motorcycles. Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce has stepped in to arrange private transportation for those in need, with Chairman Sanjiv Amatya assuring that there will be no difficulties for travelers, as private buses, Tata Sumos, and microbuses have been made available to strengthen the transportation options for pilgrims.
