After a significant improvement in weather conditions, domestic air transport services have resumed from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and eight other airports across Nepal. This comes after days of disruption caused by adverse weather, which led to the cancellation of more than 400 flights on Friday and Saturday.
Jagannath Niraula, General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, confirmed that flights using the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) system have been authorized until 10:00 PM tonight. The airport, which handles around 150 to 160 flights daily, is now back to normal operations.
Regular flights have also resumed at all airports in the country, with the exception of Surkhet Airport, which remains closed for the time being due to localized conditions.
The resumption of flights brings relief to travelers and airlines, as the aviation sector had faced considerable delays and cancellations over the past few days.
