Electricity Supply Issue Resolved at Galeshwor Temple in Myagdi

The long-standing issue of irregular electricity supply at the famous religious site, Galeshwor, located in Beni Municipality-9 of Myagdi, has been resolved. Galeshwor, known as a shared pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhist devotees and as the gateway to Muktikshetra and Mustang, now receives a stable power supply through a new distribution line.

Previously, Galeshwor received electricity from the Milan Chowk-Dana feeder. However, starting this week, power is being supplied from the Beni feeder, according to Saty Narayan Gami, the head of the Myagdi Distribution Center of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

“To resolve the issue of irregular power supply caused by the long distribution line from Milan Chowk to Dana, a new line has been set up from Kalipul to Galeshwor, which is located near Beni Bazaar,” Gami explained. “Since Galeshwor is also a religious tourist destination, we have ensured a regular and high-quality power supply.”

A total of 84 poles have been installed along the three-kilometer stretch from Kalipul to Galeshwor, and two transformers with capacities of 200 kVA and 50 kVA have been placed. Additionally, to prevent power outages in Beni when there are issues at Galeshwor, a “Distribution Overhead (DO)” switch has been installed at Dalle Pipal, near Kalipul, according to NEA’s Myagdi Distribution Center spokesperson, Prakash Jha.

The Myagdi Distribution Center, which supplies electricity to around 22,000 consumers in Myagdi and the Mallaj area of Jaljala Rural Municipality in Parbat, receives power from the 132 kVA Milan Chowk Substation. From there, electricity is distributed through the Ratnechaur, Beni, Darbang, and Dana feeders.

Ward Chair of Beni Municipality-9, Chakra KC, mentioned that the improvement in the power distribution line has benefited Galeshwor Shiv Mandir, located on a nine-ropani area of land, as well as approximately 150 households in Galeshwor. He added that the new electricity poles were installed in such a way that street lights can be added along the roadside in the future.

Tara Prasad Acharya, a local hotel entrepreneur in Galeshwor, expressed relief at the improvement. “We were previously frustrated by the irregular power supply,” he said. “Now, with the new line in place, we are finally receiving a stable electricity supply, which has made life easier for both locals and businesses.”

The completion of the new power line marks a significant improvement for Galeshwor, enhancing the experience for residents, visitors, and businesses in the area.
