A two-day interaction and consultation meeting focusing on community-level actions for sustainable and climate-resilient ecotourism was successfully held on October 5 and 6, 2024, at Kagbeni and Dhakarjhong in Mustang. The event, organized collaboratively by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), National Trust for Nature Conservation-Annapurna Conservation Area Project (NTNC-ACAP), and Waragung Rural Municipality, aimed to empower local communities with actionable strategies for conservation and ecotourism development in the region.

During the sessions, ACAP Jomsom provided essential insights into conservation area rules and regulations, waste management practices, and relief procedures for wildlife damage. These guidelines are intended to strengthen sustainable practices in Mustang, addressing key challenges related to ecological preservation and the impacts of tourism.

The event was well-received by participants, who gained valuable information on implementing sustainable ecotourism practices that align with local needs while enhancing the region’s resilience to climate change. The collaboration underscores the commitment of these organizations to fostering sustainable tourism models that benefit both communities and the environment in Mustang.
