The Dolomites are set to gain a new attraction for adventure and sports travellers with the first official edition of the Enrosadira Trail, scheduled for October 10, 2026, in La Val, Alta Badia. The mountain trail-running event will take athletes through alpine landscapes, traditional Ladin settlements, forests and panoramic mountain paths beneath some of the Dolomites’ most recognizable peaks. The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making the event an opportunity to combine outdoor sport with nature and cultural tourism.
Trail Running Meets Destination Tourism
Following a successful trial edition, the Enrosadira Trail is making its official debut with an approach centered on athletes, local communities and the mountain environment. The race will offer three courses: 20 km, 40 km and 55 km with elevation gains of approximately 1,250 metres, 2,450 metres and 3,400 metres, respectively.
The routes will begin and end in La Val and pass through parts of Alta Badia including Badia, La Villa, Corvara and San Cassiano, as well as areas around La Crusc, Col Alto and the Rit meadows. Beyond the sporting challenge, the event is designed to encourage visitors to experience the landscape, villages and mountain culture of the destination, strengthening Alta Badia’s appeal as an adventure and outdoor tourism destination.
Autumn Landscape Adds to the Tourism Appeal
The October timing is an important part of the event’s tourism appeal. During autumn, the larch forests around the Dolomites take on golden colours, while the Enrosadira, the natural phenomenon that gives the race its name, can bathe the mountains in warm pink, red and orange tones.
Organizers describe the race as more than a sporting competition, presenting it as an opportunity for runners, spectators and local residents to experience the mountains and Ladin culture together. The event also promotes a more intimate form of mountain tourism rather than a large-scale mass sporting competition.
Limited Participation to Support the Mountain Environment
Participation has been capped at 150 runners for each distance, a measure intended to maintain the quality of the experience and limit pressure on the alpine environment. Registration is currently open, with fees listed at €50 for the 20K, €60 for the 40K and €70 for the 55K. The 20K category is already sold out, according to the event’s official website. With its combination of mountain sport, spectacular scenery, local culture and autumn landscapes, the Enrosadira Trail is positioned to further promote Alta Badia and the Dolomites as a destination for adventure travellers, trail runners and nature enthusiasts.
