The Everest Hotel, a landmark in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, for the past 46 years, has recently faced misleading media reports suggesting it is up for sale. In a strong rebuttal issued yesterday, the hotel management dismissed these rumors as unfounded and malicious and announced that legal measures have been taken against the spreaders of false information.
The statement from The Everest Hotel’s management clarified that there are no intentions or plans to sell the property, countering the claims made by various online media outlets. The hotel, renowned for its 160 rooms—including superior, deluxe, club, and six luxurious suites—serves as a pivotal player in both the local and international hospitality sectors.

Emphasizing the hotel’s significant role, the management underscored its contributions to the local economy, including job creation and revenue generation for the government. They condemned the rumors as an attempt to undermine the hotel’s well-established reputation and the high-quality service it provides to its guests.
“The dissemination of such false and misleading information not only harms our reputation but also affects the wider community that relies on the hotel’s success and stability,” the management stated. They have called for robust action against those responsible for spreading these damaging rumors and urged the public and media to avoid propagating or believing in such fabricated news.
The Everest Hotel’s management is actively pursuing legal recourse to address the misinformation and has appealed to the government to investigate and take necessary steps to prevent the recurrence of such issues.
