A group of Nepali pilgrims heading to the holy Islamic sites of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage was bid farewell amid a special ceremony at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Monday.
The farewell program was attended by Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, who personally extended his best wishes to the departing pilgrims. Speaking at the event, Minister Pandey emphasized that Hajj should not only be seen as a religious obligation but also as an opportunity to enhance Nepal’s image and international standing.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring a well-managed and dignified process, Minister Pandey said arrangements related to pilgrimage management, safety, and overall coordination have been organized in a structured and respectful manner. He also urged the pilgrims to represent Nepal with discipline, tolerance, and cultural integrity, reflecting the country’s identity on sacred grounds.
According to officials, over 40 Nepali pilgrims are participating in this year’s Hajj. The Government of Nepal, in coordination with the Muslim Commission and other concerned agencies, is working together to facilitate a smooth and meaningful pilgrimage for the devotees.
