A Filipino national, Philip II Santiago, has tragically passed away during his expedition to Mt. Everest. According to the Department of Tourism, Santiago died last night while resting at Camp IV of Everest.
He was part of the Everest expedition through Snow Horizon Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd. The department stated that Santiago reached Camp IV in an exhausted state around 7–8 PM and passed away while taking rest. This information was confirmed by members of his climbing team early this morning. Authorities have begun the necessary procedures to retrieve his body and bring it back to the Everest base camp.
