Nepal is set to host the world’s first international gathering of climbers who have summited Mount Everest. The event, titled ‘Everest Summiter Summit’, will take place in Kathmandu on Jestha 13 (May 27 2025), bringing together climbers from around the globe to share their experiences and promote adventure tourism.
Organized by Everest Alliance Nepal, the summit aims to provide a platform for international mountaineers to connect, exchange stories, and highlight the importance of sustainable mountain tourism. According to Sudarshan Nepal, Chairman of Everest Alliance Nepal, this is the first time such a high-profile gathering of Everest summiteers is being organized in the country.

First-Ever ‘Everest Summiter Summit’
So far, 177 climbers from 16 countries have confirmed their participation. The total attendance is expected to reach over 500 Everest summiteers from countries including India, China, the USA, the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Iran, Singapore, Australia, Lebanon, Morocco, and the UAE.

“This event will feature mountaineers who summited Everest as far back as 71 years ago,” said Chairman Nepal. “Record-holding climbers will share their journeys, including inspiring presentations from those who achieved extraordinary feats despite physical challenges.”
A special moment during the summit will be a tribute to Kancha Sherpa, the last surviving Sherpa who climbed Everest alongside Sir Edmund Hillary during the first successful ascent in 1953. It will be the first time such recognition is given on such a scale.
Beyond celebrating mountaineering achievements, the summit will also address critical issues like climate change and its impact on the Himalayas. There will be panel discussions and group dialogues with international environmental organizations such as the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), ICIMOD (International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development), IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), and Samriddha Pahad.
The event is being organized in collaboration with leading tourism institutions including the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Mountaineering Association, and Hotel Association Nepal.
Tourism entrepreneurs believe this summit will not only enhance Nepal’s global image but also encourage high-value tourism. Former NATTA President Achyut Guragain emphasized the event’s potential, saying, “This summit is a landmark for Nepal’s adventure tourism and will significantly contribute to promoting the country as a premium destination.”
The Everest Summiter Summit is more than just a celebration it’s a global call to protect the Himalayas, empower mountaineers, and position Nepal as a hub for adventure and environmental awareness.
