Five Russian climbers, who had gone missing while attempting to summit Dhaulagiri, have tragically been found dead. The group had been out of contact since Sunday after leaving the High Camp Base.
According to Bharat Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, the deceased climbers have been identified as Alexander Dusheyko, Oleg Kruglov, Vladimir Chistikov, Mikhail Nosenko, and Dmitrii Shpilevoi.
Search efforts, including helicopter missions, were launched after the climbers lost contact on Sunday at around 11 a.m. Their bodies were recovered today, and preparations are underway to bring them down from the mountain.
One member of the expedition was successfully rescued and has been transported to Kathmandu for treatment. The authorities continue to investigate the incident while the mountaineering community mourns this tragic loss.
