Flight Operations Return to Suketar Airport After Extended Break

After nearly four months of suspension, flight services at Suketar Airport in Taplejung resumed today. Regular flights had been halted since the last week of Mangsir due to technical issues with two aircraft operated by Nepal Airlines Corporation, which conducts flights to the region.

Although a flight was initially scheduled for Friday, it was postponed to today due to technical complications. According to Suketar Airport authorities, a Nepal Airlines flight arrived from Kathmandu carrying five passengers and departed with six passengers four men and two women back to the capital.

The suspension of air services had significantly impacted both domestic and international tourists, as well as local residents who depend on the airport for travel.

In previous years, Sita Air and Tara Air had also operated flights to Suketar during the tourist season, but both airlines have since discontinued their services. The resumption of flights is expected to ease travel for visitors and residents, providing much-needed connectivity to the remote eastern region of Nepal.
