Flights across the country have been affected due to adverse weather conditions. Continuous rainfall has reduced visibility, impacting operations at Tribhuvan International Airport and several other airports in Nepal, according to airport authorities.

Rinji Sherpa, spokesperson for the airport, stated that both domestic and international flights have been disrupted due to poor weather and low visibility. In the morning, due to en-route weather conditions, Jazeera Airways’ international flight was diverted to Varanasi, India, and Buddha Air’s mountain flight was also diverted.

Three flights from Summit Air and Tara Air, which were scheduled to fly from Ramechhap to Lukla, had to be diverted due to poor weather in Lukla. However, spokesperson Sherpa mentioned that with a break in rainfall, operations at Kathmandu and regional airports have resumed normally. Some flights to remote areas remain suspended, and Nepal Airlines’ flight to Thamkharka from Kathmandu was also diverted.

Light rain was recorded in the Kathmandu Valley early this morning, but the weather has since cleared up, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. The division noted that western and local winds are currently influencing weather patterns, causing light rain in parts of Kathmandu and hilly regions.

Additionally, moisture-laden winds entering from the Bay of Bengal have contributed to the rainfall. The weather forecast predicts partly to generally cloudy skies throughout the country this afternoon, with chances of light to moderate rain, thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in parts of Koshi, Lumbini, and hilly regions elsewhere. Light snowfall is also possible in some Himalayan and hilly areas.
