New Footpath Initiative to Unlock Easier Access to Satyawati Temple

The construction of a footpath linking the famous Satyawati Temple to the nearby area has begun to attract religious tourists. Located in the picturesque region of Bareng Municipality-3 in Baglung, the Satyawati Temple is a prominent religious site known for its belief that praying loudly at the temple can help fulfill wishes.

The project to construct the footpath is being funded by the Gandaki Provincial Government, with a budget allocation of NPR 1 million. The work involves creating a 200-meter paved path with railings from Khaltab to the temple. Narayan Rizal, the planning officer at the Tourism and Industry Office of Baglung, shared updates on the ongoing footpath construction project aimed at enhancing access to Satyawati Temple. According to Rizal, the construction work has already surpassed 50 percent completion and is progressing steadily.

The project is expected to be finalized within this month, reflecting the local government’s commitment to improving tourism infrastructure. This current initiative builds upon a similar effort carried out last year when the municipality invested an additional NPR 10 million to develop another section of the footpath. With continuous efforts like these, the region aims to offer safer and more convenient access for pilgrims and visitors, promoting religious tourism and supporting the local economy.

The footpath construction is aimed at facilitating the increasing number of domestic and international tourists who visit the temple. The temple has become more organized and accessible due to efforts made by the Bareng Municipality. Over the last decade, the municipality has taken the lead in renovating the temple, including building infrastructure such as parking areas, drinking water facilities, toilets, resting spots, and even a fun park. The total investment made by the municipality in these developments has surpassed NPR 10 million.

In addition to the development of infrastructure, the road to the temple has been enhanced to ensure it remains operational throughout the year, making it more accessible for visitors. The Satyawati Temple holds great cultural significance, especially during the full moon, when it hosts a large fair that attracts thousands of pilgrims.

Residents have emphasized that the temple’s improvement has resolved past difficulties, such as limited space for religious practices, making it easier for devotees to carry out their prayers. Through this project, the Bareng Municipality aims to boost tourism and ensure that the area continues to be a vital religious destination for people across Nepal.
