Foreign Tourist Arrivals in Nepal Increase by 8.3% in August 2024

In August 2024, Nepal saw an 8.3% increase in foreign tourist arrivals compared to the same month in 2023, according to the latest data from the Nepal Tourism Board. This year, 72,719 tourists visited Nepal, up from 67,153 in August 2023, marking an increase of 5,566 visitors.

Among the visitors in August 2024, the highest numbers came from India with 25,832 tourists, followed by China with 6,614, the United States with 5,614, Sri Lanka with 4,851, and Bangladesh with 3,077.

Historical data shows that in August 2022, Nepal welcomed 41,304 foreign tourists, while in August 2021, the number was significantly lower at 6,093. The peak was observed in August 2019, with 94,749 international tourists visiting the country.

The increase in tourist arrivals reflects a positive trend for Nepal’s tourism sector, showcasing its growing appeal as a travel destination.
