Gandaki Parikrama Festival to Promote Religious Tourism in Devghat

The renowned religious site of Devghat in Tanahun is set to host the Gandaki Parikrama Festival on November 14, 2024. This festival aims to enhance religious tourism in the area and promote the sacred energy of the confluence of the Gandaki River and Devghat, a unique pilgrimage site of immense spiritual significance. Phanindra Prasad Paudel, Principal of Mahesh Sanskrit Gurukul Devghat, stated that the festival seeks to advance the Vedic Sanatan Dharma and culture while boosting the physical development of the area.

Organized by the Nepal Sant Samaj, with support from the Devghat Municipality and the Devghat Area Development Committee, the festival’s preparation meeting was attended by notable figures, including the President of Nepal Sant Samaj, Shree Gyanananda Saraswati, and Ram Nanda Giri, head of Mahesh Sanyas Ashram. Til Bahadur Thapa, the Chairperson of Devghat Municipality, expressed confidence that the Gandaki Parikrama Festival will significantly promote religious tourism in Devghat.

The festival will commence at 7 AM from the confluence at Devghat and will encompass various sacred sites across Tanahun, Chitwan, and Nawalpur. Participants will visit significant temples such as Pashupatinath, Ganga, and Durga Panchayan in Tanahun, as well as Sankalpeshwar Hanuman Temple, Radha Krishna Temple, and the Yogi Naraharinath Gau Conservation Center in Chitwan. In Nawalpur, they will circle the Gopeshwar Mahadev Temple and other notable locations before concluding at the Manimukundeshwar Ashram in Devpur.

This event promises a comprehensive parikrama (circumambulation) of Devghat, visits to significant religious sites, and the promotion of Vedic Sanatan Dharma and culture, aiming to enrich participants’ spiritual experiences while fostering tourism in the region.
