Gandaki Province has reorganized its government by creating nine distinct ministries, as per the decision made by Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey during today’s Cabinet meeting. The announcement was made at a press conference, highlighting the province’s efforts to enhance administrative efficiency.
The division of ministries was made following an agreement between the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML). According to Chief Minister Pandey, the Nepali Congress will oversee five ministries, while the UML will handle four. This reorganization aligns with the federal coalition’s commitment to equitable power-sharing.
One of the notable changes includes the splitting of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forests, and Environment, and the Ministry of Social Development and Health. Chief Minister Pandey explained that both the Environment and Health Ministries previously had two separate organizational structures, each with its secretary. The decision to split these entities into independent ministries was made to improve governance and service delivery.
Chief Minister Pandey also mentioned that four ministers from the UML are expected to join the Cabinet soon, further strengthening the federal coalition’s agenda. The restructuring aims to bolster the province’s ability to address key sectors, particularly tourism, which is vital for Gandaki Province’s economic growth and sustainability. The new ministries will focus on targeted development, ensuring that tourism and related industries receive the attention and resources they need to thrive.
