Gaura Festival to Be Celebrated on Bhadra 10 in Far-Western and Karnali Regions

The Gaura Festival celebrated in the Far-Western and Karnali regions of Nepal, is scheduled for Bhadra 10 this year, according to the Aathola Panchang. The announcement was made in a press release issued by the Panchangkar, Dilli Raj Joshi, on Monday.

The release states that this year’s Gaura worship will occur during the Krishna Paksha of Bhadra. The festival, also known as the Dark or Kali Gaura, will be observed on the 10th day of Bhadra.

A detailed schedule provided by Aathola Panchang includes several key dates leading up to the main festival: Bhadra 8 marks Biruda Panchami, Bhadra 9 includes Shashti Tithi, Biruda Dhune, Nolako Gaura, Gaura Saptami, Amuktabharan Saptami, and Bhitri Gaura. The festival will culminate with the celebration of Athewali on Bhadra 10.

Traditionally, celebrations extend beyond the main festival day, with people often continuing the festivities according to their convenience and customs after Bhadra 11.
