Ghale Gaun’s Spectacular 25-Year Tourism Celebration to Elevate Rural Charm

Ghale Gaun, one of Nepal’s premier rural tourism destinations, is set to host the ‘Tourism Promotion and Silver Jubilee Celebration.’ A press conference held in Besisahar today provided details about the upcoming event. Marking 25 years since the formal inception of rural tourism in 2000 (B.S. 2057), Ghale Gaun will organize a special celebration on April 5, 6, and 7 (Baishakh 23, 24, and 25). The event aims to enhance Ghale Gaun’s reputation as a key tourism hub in Nepal.

Organized by the Ghale Gaun Tourism Management Committee, the program will showcase local culture, rural village homestays, adventure sports, and various cultural performances. The event is being conducted in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board, local governments, private sector stakeholders, and other relevant organizations.

According to Prem Bahadur Ghale, chairman of the Ghale Gaun Tourism Management Committee, the event will prominently feature traditional Gurung performances, including Jhyaure dance, Ghantu dance, and other cultural showcases. Tourists will also get a firsthand experience of local lifestyles through homestay visits. The celebration is part of a broader initiative to develop Ghale Gaun as a ‘Smart Village,’ focusing on eco-friendly technology, waste management, renewable energy promotion, and digital infrastructure development.

The program will also include discussions on the future of rural tourism, necessary policy reforms, and public-private partnership opportunities. Additionally, various adventure sports such as futsal, marathon races, and cycling competitions will be held, with winners receiving cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.

A football tournament will be a key highlight, featuring teams from Nepal and India, including MSC Club Balia (India), Triveni Youth Club Besisahar, Nalma 11, BWC Bhoteodar, Bhuikhel Football Club, Abhishek Church, Friendship Youth Club, Gunni Football Club, CYC Nepal Turture, Ruds Rampur, ANFA Manang, and Besisahar Youth Society. The grand celebration is expected to boost rural tourism in Ghale Gaun, attracting both domestic and international visitors while promoting sustainable tourism practices in the region.
