The Ghangcho Waterfall, located between Bahapur and Belauji villages in Nisdi Rural Municipality-5, Palpa, flows year-round and offers a mesmerizing view. Known as “Ghangcho Chhahara” in the Magar language, it is commonly referred to as a tall waterfall in Nepali.
Visitors enjoy bathing and relaxing in its waters, but due to a lack of road infrastructure and promotion, this natural beauty remains largely unnoticed. Resident Tejan Sunari recalls how the sound of the waterfall brings joy, even while collecting fodder or herding cattle. The waterfall never dries up, even in winter, making it a breathtaking sight.

During summer, people find refreshment by bathing in the waterfall, which remains flowing throughout the year. Sunari emphasizes the need for better promotion and infrastructure development to attract tourists. With a height of over 30 meters and a width of 20 meters, the waterfall holds great tourism potential. However, the difficult access route limits visitor numbers.

While roads have reached Bahpur and Belauji villages, the waterfall is still a 10 to 15-minute walk away. Nisdi Rural Municipality has initiated efforts to develop the site into a tourist destination. Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Program, a pedestrian path (stairway) is being constructed to improve access.
Ward Chairman Durga bahadur Somey stated that efforts are underway to expand the road network and enhance tourism facilities. The current fiscal year has allocated NPR 100,000 for its promotion and development. With its cascading waters and serene surroundings, the Ghangcho Waterfall has the potential to become a major attraction if proper infrastructure and publicity are ensured.
