Global Peace Program to Convene in Lumbini and Ramgram with Participation of World’s 25 Billionaires

Under the theme “Peace for a Prosperous Future,” the third edition of the World Peace Program is set to take place from December 19 to 23 across Lumbini and Ramgram. The event is expected to be one of the most influential international gatherings ever hosted in Nepal, bringing together 25 global billionaires along with leading experts, cultural ambassadors, business leaders, scholars, artists, and youth representatives from around the world.

Over 10,000 Participants Expected

Organizers have confirmed that the event will host more than 10,000 participants, including representatives from Nepal and international communities. Attendees will include United Nations cultural ambassadors, international trade leaders, global thinkers, artists, youth networks, and community representatives. This year’s edition is especially notable, as it marks the first-ever collective visit of 25 billionaires to Nepal, who will explore opportunities for investment, collaboration, and long-term partnerships in sectors connected to peace, sustainability, and prosperity.

Emphasis on Nepal’s Spiritual and Cultural Heritage

The World Peace Program will be hosted in two sacred sites deeply connected with the life and legacy of Gautam Buddha, Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, and Ramgram, where one of Buddha’s original, untouched relics is preserved.

Organizers say the event aligns closely with the spirit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions. By centering Nepal’s spiritual legacy within global peacebuilding discussions, the event aims to reinforce Nepal’s image as a hub for peace, harmony, and sustainable development.

Three-Day Discussion on Peace, Climate, and Social Justice

Across three days, the program will feature a diverse set of thematic sessions, dialogues, and cultural activities. Major highlights include:

  • Dialogues on peacebuilding, climate action, development, and inner well-being
  • Youth- and community-centered leadership sessions, focusing on practical peacebuilding skills
  • Discussions on women’s voices, Indigenous communities, and marginalized populations
  • Creative therapy and cultural showcases expressing unity, resilience, and healing
  • Art exhibitions, musical concerts, and spiritual performances

Participants will engage in cross-sector collaboration, exchange transformative ideas, and explore collective solutions for global challenges.

Legacy of Previous Editions

The World Peace Program began in 2023, when UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made his historic visit to Lumbini and delivered a global message of peace. Organizers believe that this year marks an even more significant milestone, as the program brings together some of the world’s most influential investors, innovators, and thought leaders.

They expect the gathering to open critical pathways for large-scale investment, cross-sector partnerships, and the sharing of transformative insights. The organizers have expressed confidence that the event will become a turning point for Nepal’s global visibility and its long-term development ambitions.

Participation of Former Heads of State

This year’s edition will also welcome three former heads of state, who will join global dignitaries and peace advocates in supporting Nepal’s role as a global peace destination. The Nepal Tourism Board is serving as the promotional partner, while Kathmandu University has joined as the academic partner. Numerous national and international stakeholders, institutions, and civil-society groups are contributing to the program.

Grand Lamp-Lighting Ceremony at Ramgram

One of the most anticipated moments of the event will take place on December 12 at the sacred Ramgram Stupa, where thousands of oil lamps will be lit in a symbolic ceremony of peace and hope. Organizers say the sky will glow with lights and prayers offered for global harmony and collective well-being.

Collaborative Effort Led by Promised Land Foundation

The event is being organized under the leadership of The Promised Land Foundation, with support from the Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal World Youth Federation, Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Lumbini Development Trust, Kathmandu University, and several civil-society organizations.

Local businesses and youth groups from Lumbini and Ramgram are also actively involved, with the shared vision of promoting both sites as unified global destinations for peace and spirituality.

Cultural Showcases and Artistic Expressions

Alongside the main discussions, the program will feature cultural exhibitions, music performances, and artistic expressions, celebrating global diversity and Nepal’s rich heritage. These creative sessions aim to highlight the healing power of art, culture, and collective unity.
