Govinda Marasaini, a prominent journalist and writer from Putlibazar No. Pa 3, Syangja, has been awarded the prestigious Gandaki State Youth Talent Award for his exceptional contributions to journalism and tourism promotion in the region. The award, presented by the Ministry of Social Development and Health of Gandaki Province, recognizes Marasaini’s significant role in advocating for tourism through his impactful journalistic endeavors.
Marasaini, who has dedicated 13 years to journalism, received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with the first prize accolade. His work spans various national media platforms, where he has been a vocal advocate for youth issues, tourism development, political analysis, and contemporary societal concerns.
His journalism has notably focused on promoting diverse aspects of tourism in Nepal, including major tourist destinations, adventure sports, religious tourism, and rural tourism. Through his insightful reporting and investigative articles, Marasaini has contributed immensely to raising awareness and fostering growth in Nepal’s tourism sector.
As the secretary of the Online Journalists Association and a recipient of previous accolades such as the SAARC Youth Leader Award and Active Journalism Award in Crisis, Marasaini continues to play a pivotal role in shaping public discourse and advocating for positive societal change.
The award ceremony, held at the Ministry of Social Development and Health of Gandaki Province, saw Minister Bindu Kumar Thapa and Secretary Prakash Paudel present awards to Marasaini and other distinguished journalists. Laxman Kumar Sunar of Parbat was also honored with the second prize in the Tourism Promotion category.
The Gandaki State Youth Talent Award, initiated by the ministry to recognize exemplary talent across various disciplines, saw 13 individuals awarded across 8 categories based on rigorous evaluation criteria.
