A grand Aarti ceremony, dedicated to world peace, is set to commence on Ekadashi, August 29, 2024, at the Radha Krishna Temple Shanti Ashram in Lameahal, Khara Metropolitan-32. The event will be organized by the Radha Krishna Temple Shanti Ashram, in collaboration with the Radha Krishna Gurukul Sanskrit School, Radha Krishna Old Age Home, and Radha Krishna Cultural Group.
Prakash Upadhyaya Regmi, the coordinator of the event, shared that the grand Aarti aims not only to pray for world peace but also to preserve and promote ancient traditions and cultural values. “Through this grand Aarti, we wish to foster world peace while also safeguarding our ancient rituals and culture. Starting from this Ekadashi, we plan to continue this Aarti on every subsequent Ekadashi,” he said.
According to Regmi, the ceremony will feature three Aartis, and those wishing to take responsibility for the event’s management can do so by contributing NPR 12,000, thereby becoming the chief sponsor. The Aarti will take place at 5:30 PM on every Ekadashi.
The Radha Krishna Temple Shanti Ashram, established in 1965 with the goal of spiritual awakening and the expansion of the Nimbarka sect, is active not only in religious but also in social spheres, according to Ghanshyam Khanal, Secretary of the Temple Management Committee. In 2012, the Radha Krishna Old Age Home was established within the temple premises, and it currently houses 45 elderly residents from various districts.
The Radha Krishna Gurukul Sanskrit School, affiliated with the temple, received approval in 2014 and began operations in 2015. The school currently provides residential education to 28 students from grades 6 to 10.
Khanal also emphasized that the temple aims to transform itself into a center of spiritual awakening and a significant destination for religious tourism. He expressed confidence that the grand Aarti would play a crucial role in promoting and developing the temple as a key spiritual and cultural landmark.
