Formal festivities were held at the Janaki Temple in Janakpurdham on Monday to commemorate the sacred Janaki Birth Anniversary. The temple’s successor, Mahantha Ram Roshan Das, claims that as of right now, daily activities have been planned, such as recitations of the Ram Katha at 4 PM and congratulatory songs and cultural programs in the sanctum sanctorum at 7 PM.

Furthermore, the Ramayana will be continuously recited. A royal ritual bath of Goddess Janaki will take place at the Dudhmati River beginning at 5 AM on Baisakh 23 (Tuesday), the celebration’s main day. The same day, there will be a Dola Shobha Yatra at 4 PM, a special Aarti Deepotsav at 7 PM with the birth parents, and a birth Aarti and congratulatory songs at noon.

Every day at 7 PM in the temple’s sanctum, birth celebration songs will be sung from Janaki’s birth anniversary until Chhathihar. The temple management committee says that on Baisakh 25, the Sita-Ram wedding festival will be celebrated with religious and cultural songs, and on Baisakh 24, a traditional Matkor ritual will take place in Janakpurdham.

Manas Mohini Sadhya Devi will perform a special Ram Katha recitation that same day. In Janakpurdham, lavish arrangements have been made to celebrate Janaki Jayanti with great fervor, Das said.
